Friday Pokemon Announcements – Forbidden Light TCG Release + Pokemon Center Tokyo DX + Osaka Airport Store

Friday Pokemon Announcements – Forbidden Light TCG Release + Pokemon Center Tokyo DX + Osaka Airport Store

Hello everyone~

This week’s announcements were pretty boring as far as announcements go, but I guess not every week can be a parade of upcoming merchandise.

A new booster pack, called “Forbidden Light” (SM6) and featuring Ultra Necrozma, will hit shelves in Japan March 2nd (Friday).

Each pack will contain 5 random cards and will cost 162 yen after tax.

Forbidden Light Card Sleeves

Along with the booster set, 4 Pokemon Center original card sleeves will also go on sale March 2nd.

The 4 designs are Lysandre, Ultra Necrozma, Kalos Girls, and Poipole. Each pack of sleeves will contain 64 sleeves and cost 777 yen after tax.

There will also be an Ultra Necrozma deck case costing 390 yen after tax.

In honor of the release, a super special booster pack set will be available as a pre-order item starting February 10th. This set can be pre-ordered from the Pokemon Center On-Line Store or any Pokemon Center or Store in Japan, with the release date being March 2nd.

This set will include:
2 boxes of Forbidden Light booster packs (60 packs)
1 set of 64 card sleeves (Clemont & Bonnie)
1 deck case (Clemont & Bonnie)
1 card box

The Clemont & Bonnie sleeves and deck case can only be obtained via this set, so if you’re a fan, don’t miss this chance!

The set all together will cost 10,800 yen after tax.

A new Pokemon Store will open in the Osaka International Airport April 18th (Wednesday).

Special Osaka Airport Pilot and Flight Attendant Pikachu plush will be available for sale exclusively through this store location.

Last but not least… the Pokemon Center Tokyo DX!

Both the new Pokemon Center and the Cafe will open March 14th (Wednesday).

As with most Center openings, there will be a variety of campaigns that will start March 14th across Japan, as well as some exclusively for the DX Center.

Tokyo DX Clear Card

First up… everyone’s favorite clear cards! These cards are given out to all visitors regardless of if you purchase something or not.

The first Snorlax + Mew card will be available at all Pokemon Centers across Japan between March 14th and March 25th (or while supplies last).

The Snorlax + Mew on the bridge card will be available only at Tokyo DX, Mega Tokyo, Sky Tree, and the Tokyo Station Store and will be distributed between March 26th and April 8th (or while supplies last).

The final Snorlax + Mew design will only be available at Tokyo DX between April 9th and April 22nd (or while supplies last).

Limited Tokyo DX shopping bags will be distributed at all Pokemon Centers and Stores around Japan starting March 14th until they run out. To get a bag, all you need to do is buy something.

Tokyo DX Promo Cards

For every 5 packs of booster cards bought at a Pokemon Center or Store in Japan, customers will receive 1 Sakura Afro Pikachu promo card.

For every 5 packs of booster cards bought specifically at the Tokyo DX Store, customers will receive 1 Gentleman Pikachu promo card.

Both promo cards feature the Tokyo DX Logo.

Finally, and as always while supplies last, tiny foldable fan charms will be given to Tokyo DX customers for every 5,000 yen spent. So if you go and spend 10,000 yen, for example, you’ll get 2 tiny fans.

More information on merchandise will be announced in two weeks, so stay tuned!

Until next time~

Pokemon Center Report – Pokemon Ultra Sun & Moon Game Release Day

Pokemon Center Report – Pokemon Ultra Sun & Moon Game Release Day

Hello everyone!

It’s been busy since I arrived in Japan so I apologize for the delay in Pokemon Center Reports. With not much happening this weekend (and not much that happened last weekend) I’ll be doing my best to catch up before next weekend.

This year’s release, compared to last year’s, was a little lackluster. There was no new Pokemon which was the main reason why it was so quiet, and the big promo release was the Alola Ultra Adventure which, while “exciting” is also not really exciting. So with that in mind, I decided to not show up super early since I just didn’t see a reason to. Arriving about an hour early gave me enough time to wait in line and build the anticipation while also not going overboard.

USM Store

I haven’t been to the Mega Tokyo Center since May and the first thing I noticed was the outside had been redecorated for the 20th anniversary. The screenshots from the various anime seasons makes the outside of the Pokemon Center a lot more fun vs the plain white walls from before.

The main merch and plush releases centered around Necrozma and his two new forms from the Ultra Sun & Moon games: Dusk Mane and Dawn Wing.

USM Plush

There were three plush, one for each form, all of which were pretty difficult to photograph (I did my best!)

Along with large sized acrylic charms of the Necrozmas plus Dusk Lycanroc (who already had a plush release a month back), we also got dex metal charms for Dusk Lycanroc, Dusk Necrozma, and Dawn Necrozma.

A couple new MonColle figures came out on Friday, November 17th.

USM MonColle

The highlights include Necrozma, Dusk Necrozma, Dawn Necrozma, and not forgetting Dusk Lycanroc.

Some of the larger items from the aforementioned Ultra Alola Adventure promo, including the adorable Pikachu ear hats and Pikachu hoodies.

USM Surprise

Similar to the last two game releases, two unannounced mini promos were released alongside the game merch items. These promos are aimed towards school kids with the majority of items being things like pencils, erasers, rulers, more erasers, small pouches, and notebooks.

Both line-ups have the same items with different illustrations with one being aimed more toward girls (the super cute pink one) and one aimed more toward boys (the ultra mega beast rawr design).

USM Cookies

There were no surprise cookie tins, but there were surprise blind packaged cookie bags. These bags, which come with a random Pokemon badge inside, is the bane of my existence, as I never get the badge I want and these badges almost never turn up afterward on auction sites.

Case in point: I did not want Necrozma.

So of course both bags I bought were Necrozma.

On the TCG front, a Solgaleo and Lunala GX card set went on sale, along with a deck box plus original card sleeve set from the Alola Ultra Adventure series.

There were also a couple releases on November 17th that weren’t related to the new game.

USM Ditto 1

Ditto Charms!

These charm came packaged in sets of 3 with 6 sets in total.

USM Ditto 2

The charms were double sided, with one side being a normal version of the Pokemon and the other being a Ditto version (adorable!)

A bunch of new plush from the San-ei All Stars collection was released November 17th, with notable Pokemon including Absol, Chandelure, Drifloon, and Flaaffy.

USM Mocchi Mascot

Last and not least, the Mocchi-Mocchi line of super soft and squishy plush released a couple mascot sized face plushies, including Bewear, Mimikyu, Rowlet, and Snorlax!

That wraps this latest and exciting Pokemon Center Report.

In a few hours, we will hopefully get news on the up-coming Pokemon Tails promo. Stay tuned!

Friday Pokemon Announcements (Thursday Edition) – Ultra Alola Adventure + Pokemon Center Plush + Metal Charms

Friday Pokemon Announcements (Thursday Edition) – Ultra Alola Adventure + Pokemon Center Plush + Metal Charms

Hello everyone!

As this Friday is a public holiday in Japan (Culture Day) the Pokemon Center site updated Thursday and gave us some potentially exciting news!

As I was anticipating, we finally have some information on merchandise coming out on the Pokemon Ultra Sun & Moon game release day (November 17th, 2017) which incidentally is a Friday.

First up.. new Pokemon Center exclusive plush!

Necrozma Plush

Necrozma and his two new forms, Dusk & Dawn, will go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan starting November 17th (Friday).

Necrozma will cost 3,456 yen after tax. Both Dusk & Dawn Necrozma plush will sell for 5,184 yen. As an aside, yes, the Dusk and Dawn plushies are semi big.

Next up… everyone’s favorite metal charms! There will be three new charms in this release: Dusk Lycanroc, Dusk Necrozma, and Dawn Necrozma.

Necrozma Metal Charms

All three charms will be sold in singles and will cost about 195 yen each after tax. These charms will also go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores starting November 17th (Friday).

Last but not least, official Ultra Sun & Moon promotional goods will of course go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores starting November 17th (Friday)! The line-up features the usual Center release items, such as clearfiles, notebooks, stickers, and postcards, but also includes a backpack and shoulder bag that look similar to the items worn by Selene and Elio (Moon and Sun) in Pokemon Ultra Sun & Moon.
