Happy New Years
Happy New Year!
2018 is finally over (woooo!)
First off, I’m very sorry for the silence from my blog over the past two weeks regarding Pokemon news.
New Years in Japan is a big deal and one of the biggest holiday periods for the country, with the only other biggest period being Golden Week in April/May. Unlike most countries, The 31st through the 3rd are classified as public holidays and because of that, most of the time the last Friday of the year and the first Friday of the year end up being dead zones for Pokemon news because no one is working (and I guess they can’t figure out how to schedule posts, yes I’m throwing shade, Pokemon Center site).
This year especially ended up either working out or being horrible depending on how you view it, as the 31st landed on a Monday. This meant the first official “back to work” day for most people, the 4th, was a Friday, and if you think people wouldn’t take that Friday off so they could have an extra long vacation (Saturday December 29th until Sunday January 6th) well… you don’t know people.
Being in Tokyo, the past week since the last weekend of 2018 has been crazy full of people – not the best of times for me who really doesn’t like crowds.
And then to top it off, I managed to get food poisoning. So instead of being super productive during the past week I was passed out in bed for most of it cheering my body on and desperately hoping I wouldn’t need to see a Japanese doctor (spoilers: I almost did see a doctor but the clinic I went to straight up told me the doctors don’t examine patients, they just prescribe medicine, so I walked out).
I’m feeling better now, though! Huzzah for bodies being magical.
Things To Look Forward To in 2019
I waited in line at the Mega Tokyo Pokemon Center from midnight until the store opened at 10 am in order to get a lucky bag along with Jen from Japan Stuffs. We were numbers 5 and 6 in line respectively. I will be posting pictures of my “unboxing” (unbagging?) along with harrowing tales of line waiting and other excitement!
Note: Jen will be posting the few extra lucky bags she has on hand for sale on her web store (link again) within the next week or so, so if you’re interested I suggest keeping an eye over there and keep refreshing.
I have lots of pictures from the Mix Au Lait New Years release! I’m in the process of editing them and I’ll do my best to have the post up as soon as I can.
Do you have an order with me? I’m in the process of packing and shipping everything out as quickly as possible!
Some orders I won’t be able to ship out until next week while I wait for more boxes to come in – I apologize for the extra delay but I appreciate everyone’s patience!
I’m hoping to have a Valentine’s Day themed give-away before I leave Japan in about 2 weeks, so stay tuned for that!
As always, your support is very much appreciated in helping to keep the website up and running. If you find my blog and various social media outlets useful, entertaining, or both, please consider sending support.

I’ll be working to bring some new changes to the Mikitzune website over the next year, which I’m excited and nervous about! I’ll be making an effort to provide more giveaways for Pokemon Center exclusive merchandise straight from Japan, changing around my Patreon reward tiers, updating the general website, creating more original designs for both my Threadless and TeePublic creator stores, updating the official Mikitzune store, and some other little surprises.
