[Pokemon Center Report] Halloween Festival

The first part of the 2019 Pokemon Center’s Halloween promotion was released across Japan this past weekend (Saturday September 7th).

Halloween Plush

This release featured three main plush: Pikachu, Lucario, and Celebi. The big seller was hands down Lucario, who sold out fairly quickly (but was then restocked and maybe sold out again). As of this posting, both the Lucario and Pikachu plush are sold out on the on-line store. Lucario is sold out on Amazon as well, although Pikachu is still in stock over there… for now.

Halloween Mascot

There were also four mascot plush of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Zorua, all dressed up in cute Halloween costumes.

A neat and unique addition to the line-up was a cute Pikachu jack-o-lantern plush pouch that included candy inside.

Another big seller was the Lucario hoodie, which sold out almost as fast as the plush did. I have to admit, it looks a little goofy when not being worn, but if you love Lucario, this hoodie would be perfect for you.

The t-shirts are pretty cute, too!

We should be getting information on the second part of the Halloween festivities over the next few weeks. Not sure if it will be as cute as this release, but I guess we will see.

Until next time!

Chibi May-June Pokemon Center Releases

There’s been a couple of smaller new merchandise releases between June and July that don’t fit in with a bigger promotion and this post will cover some of them!

Delicious Water Mascot Plush

The Delicious Water Pokemon Center promotion dropped May 18th (Saturday). Some astute observers might have noticed the art style was similar to the previously released Mix Au Lait and Saiko Soda promotions, and you would be correct; Delicious Water was part of this same series, but with a watery twist.

The mascot plush were the most popular from this release, and rightfully so. There was a plush made for each water starter Pokemon from the current 7 Pokemon regions.

Why does only Piplup get a crown? My guess… there is someone involved with Pokemon merchandising who loves Piplup, which explains why he gets so much merchandise while simultaneously not selling well ever. You can push it all you want, Piplup person, but it’s not going to happen (I’m sorry).

Pokemon Center Delicious Water Saiko Soda

Along with the main Delicious Water items, there were a bunch of Saiko Soda stuff as well, including bags and t-shirts.

Pokemon Center Delicious Water

Following in the footsteps of the last Mix Au Lait release, the Delicious Water promotion also included a gacha set with each figure being paired with a mini bottle of water figure.

Japanese Style June

June 16th (Saturday) saw the release of the Japanese Style promotion, featuring a bunch of more traditional Japanese items with a Pokemon twist.

There were a lot of neat items, but some highlights included: a set of four plates, four different 2 plate sets, two different types of bento boxes, super cute chopsticks with Umbreon and Espeon, aprons, and traditional Japanese short pants for wearing outside in summer when it’s hot.

Pokemon Center Neon Color

An unannounced mini Pokemon Center promotion, featuring mostly apparel with a neon theme and aptly titled “Neon Color”, came out June 22nd (Saturday).

Although maybe not too exciting, the set included phone cases, some bags, t-shirts, hats, and a bunch of socks.

Sock designs included: Pikachu,

Chokkori-San June

A new set of Chokkori-san sitting plush came out near the end of June.

This set of 8 plush included: Popplio, Litten, Rowlet, Lillie, Alolan Vulpix, Mew, Mewtwo, and Zeraora.

I love this series because the plush look so cute in their little sitting poses and also they can hold things with their tiny hands!

Eeveelution Pass Case

June 29th (Saturday) had a couple of surprise unannounced releases, one being a set of Eeveelution plush face pass cases.

They’re all cute (and soft!) but Umbreon is my favorite ❤

Ditto Charm Sets

Another June 29th unannounced release – Ditto Transform linking charm sets!

It’s been so long since the last release of these charm sets I forgot they existed, so it was kind of a nice surprise.

There were 6 charm sets in total:

Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon
Furret, Alolan Vulpix, Dragonite
Whimsicott, Gloom, Shaymin
Lapras, Magikarp, Omanyte
Mareep, Electrode, Magnemite
Litwick, Sableye, Misdreavus

Some of these sets make complete sense. Some of them… don’t. But that’s fine! The Pokemon Center can do what it wants as always.

Next Pokemon Center Report will cover the Pokemon World Market release so stay tuned!

April Banpresto Pokemon Prize Overview

April Banpresto Pokemon Prize Overview

After a couple months of low key Banpresto releases, April starts the summer surge with a bunch of different releases and a lot of new plush!

What is Banpresto?

Banpresto is a company that manufactures plush, figures, towels, glasses, and other items to be used as prizes for claw machines in game centers as well as kuji prizes. None of these items are designed to be sold directly through stores and cannot be found in Pokemon Centers. Note that the exception to this are Pokemon kujis, however even in this case, you have to win the prizes; you can’t buy the prize you want directly. Typically, you can find these prize items in game centers or sold second hand through auction sites, amazon, or other similar stores.

Most Pokemon releases from Banpresto drop on Tuesday or Thursday, with occasional releases on Friday. Ichiban Kuji generally goes on sale on Saturdays.

Some of the bigger name game centers in Japan include: Adores, Sega, Round 1, Namco, and Taito Station. Keep in mind, not all game center locations stock all prizes.

Banpresto Pokemon Sun Moon Brionne Eevee

Starting off with the generic Pokemon Sun & Moon line~

Plush Eevee tissue box cases (two versions: normal and smiling) will start appearing in game centers around Japan from April 4th (Thursday). Each plush measures about 27 cm from head to tail and has a strap so you can hang it if you want to keep tissues on a door, for example.

Large-size plush versions of Brionne and Nagisa (fancy Eevee currently starring in the most recent Pokemon Sun & Moon anime season) will start appearing in game centers around Japan from April 25th (Thursday). Each plush measures about 23 cm.

Banpresto Pokemon Sun Moon XL Plush Snorlax Ditto

There will be two new XL size plush for April, both appearing in game centers around Japan from April 18th (Thursday).

Ditto measures about 40 cm and Snorlax measures about 36 cm.

Banpresto Pokemon Sun Moon Mogu Mogu Time

From the adorable Mogu-Mogu (Snack) Time series comes two releases~

Smaller plush versions of snacky Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander will start appearing in game centers around Japan from April 25th (Thursday). Each plush measures about 14 cm.

Banpresto Pokemon Sun Moon Hokkori Iyase Kororin Korotto Manmaru Colors

Last but not least! Three miscellaneous releases~

Kororin Friends returns with four new plush designed to fit in your hand! This release includes Pikachu, Lucario, Ampharos, and Psyduck, with each plush measuring about 9 cm. These buddies will start appearing in game centers from April 25th (Thursday).

The Korotto Manmaru Colors series continues with the color purple for April. This batch includes Espeon, Gengar, and Nidoran Male. Each plush measures about 22 cm and will start appearing in game centers around Japan from April 25th (Thursday).

Lastly, from the Hokkori Iyase (Warm & Healing) series, two new extra fuzzy plush! Psyduck and Slowpoke, both measuring about 27 cm, will start appearing in game centers around Japan from April 11th (Thursday).

That wraps up the Banpresto prize releases schedule for the month of April!

Until next time~
