Pokemon Center Report – Spring Time For New Years + Pokedolls: The Return

Welcome to the New Year everyone!

First of all, a semi big announcement. I have a new photographer for while I am in America: the amazing and super nice Jen from Japanstuffs! Not only does she take photos of plush, but she sells them, too (and other stuff). So if you’re interested in buying stuff from Japan, including anything and everything from this post and any of my future posts, check out her site.

Moving on: Pokemon!

The New Year is bringing the return of the Pokedoll series, which has been dormant for about two years or so. The first three Pokedolls of the new series were released early through the Tokyo Skytree Pokemon Center location only a day or two before January 1st, but if you missed out on this pre-release, do not worry as they will be available everywhere in Japan starting January 14th.

The three Pokedolls were I guess unsurprisingly the three starters: Litten

Popplio

and Rowlet!

The dolls seem to be a little bigger than the previous Pokedoll incarnation, and because of this, the price has once again increased (they are now 1,296 yen after tax).

Pokemon decided to change the tags once again, and “Pokedoll” is now “Pokemon Dolls”.

What do you think of the new Pokedolls? Are you happy with the changes or ambivalent? What Pokemon are you excited to see maybe in Pokedoll form?

The big promotion for New Years was…Spring! Spring! Spring! This series looked super adorable from the preview photos and the real items are somehow even more adorable.

Friday Pokemon Announcements – Rowlet’s Garden + Pokemon Villains + Welcome to Alola Part 2 + Card Sleeves

Technically our Friday Pokemon announcements came out on Thursday but let’s not worry about small details; on to the merchandise!

rowletgarden00

First up – Rowlet’s Garden! Posters for this promotion were already up at Pokemon Centers on Thursday morning when the Hokkaido promotion started, creating a nice little teaser until we got more information from the official website announcement.

rowletgarden01

Rowlet’s Garden features a variety of items that can be used inside and outside of the house (along with a couple wearable items as well) with a very cute and flowery bird pattern, so if you love birds and Pokemon (and bird Pokemon) this promotion was basically made for you! The release date is December 17th at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan.

villians201

Next up: Pokemon Villains Part 2! The first part gave us Pikachu dressed as the boss from every Pokemon evil organization, and now with Sun and Moon released, here we have the missing boss: Team Skull Pikachu! Along with both a regular sized and mascot size plush, there will be some new items featuring all of the villainous Chus in their cosplaying glory, including clearfiles, notebooks, and a special card box set.

The release date for this promotion is also December 17th and will be available at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan.

If you were sad about the lack of new t-shirts and pins with a more Alola feel to them, then I have good news and bad news. The good news is: tada! The bad news is: they’re blind packaged so good luck getting the design you want (Surfing Pikachu amirite).

There will be 2 different sets of blind packaged t-shirt designs, with each t-shirt costing 1,944 yen after tax. Pikachu and Luvdisc are part of set A, Marowak and Exeggutor are part of set B. There will be other designs as well not yet revealed.

If t-shirts aren’t so much your style, there will be pins as part of the mini promotion as well. Along with the designs pictured here, there will also be pins made of the “gym leader” badges from Sun and Moon, with each pin costing 432 yen each.

The web page ends the merchandise list with “etc” meaning more to come, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Finally, we have: card sleeves! These four designs will go on sale December 9th at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan. These designs will be available as half-decks only, with each pack costing 778 yen after tax.

Pokemon Center Report – PokeKyun Collection

The PokeKyun concept pack came out on Friday the 29th and I was there at the Mega Tokyo Pokemon Center, bright and early, for card fun and festivities! The train ride in to the city was especially smushy because for some reason every time trains would go through this one specific station on my train line, the doors wouldn’t open and they literally had to turn each train off and on again, leading to delays upon delays. But I did it for Pokemon!

Aside from the card packs themselves, there were two bonus items that came out on Friday that were card related. Bonus item 1 were these Premium PokeKyun Box Sets.

This display features the contents of the premium box (sheet of stickers, card sleeves, deck box, long box, Shaymin EX card). The cards in the back are samples of the cards that are available through the concept pack.

Item number 2 I didn’t know about until I saw it in person.

This mini binder set is exclusive to Pokemon Centers and 7-11. Each set comes with 1 mini binder to store you cute cards in as well as two packs of PokeKyun cards.

I had to buy one of the binder sets for myself. Here is one side…
