Friday Pokemon Announcements – Forbidden Light TCG Release + Pokemon Center Tokyo DX + Osaka Airport Store

Friday Pokemon Announcements – Forbidden Light TCG Release + Pokemon Center Tokyo DX + Osaka Airport Store

Hello everyone~

This week’s announcements were pretty boring as far as announcements go, but I guess not every week can be a parade of upcoming merchandise.

A new booster pack, called “Forbidden Light” (SM6) and featuring Ultra Necrozma, will hit shelves in Japan March 2nd (Friday).

Each pack will contain 5 random cards and will cost 162 yen after tax.

Forbidden Light Card Sleeves

Along with the booster set, 4 Pokemon Center original card sleeves will also go on sale March 2nd.

The 4 designs are Lysandre, Ultra Necrozma, Kalos Girls, and Poipole. Each pack of sleeves will contain 64 sleeves and cost 777 yen after tax.

There will also be an Ultra Necrozma deck case costing 390 yen after tax.

In honor of the release, a super special booster pack set will be available as a pre-order item starting February 10th. This set can be pre-ordered from the Pokemon Center On-Line Store or any Pokemon Center or Store in Japan, with the release date being March 2nd.

This set will include:
2 boxes of Forbidden Light booster packs (60 packs)
1 set of 64 card sleeves (Clemont & Bonnie)
1 deck case (Clemont & Bonnie)
1 card box

The Clemont & Bonnie sleeves and deck case can only be obtained via this set, so if you’re a fan, don’t miss this chance!

The set all together will cost 10,800 yen after tax.

A new Pokemon Store will open in the Osaka International Airport April 18th (Wednesday).

Special Osaka Airport Pilot and Flight Attendant Pikachu plush will be available for sale exclusively through this store location.

Last but not least… the Pokemon Center Tokyo DX!

Both the new Pokemon Center and the Cafe will open March 14th (Wednesday).

As with most Center openings, there will be a variety of campaigns that will start March 14th across Japan, as well as some exclusively for the DX Center.

Tokyo DX Clear Card

First up… everyone’s favorite clear cards! These cards are given out to all visitors regardless of if you purchase something or not.

The first Snorlax + Mew card will be available at all Pokemon Centers across Japan between March 14th and March 25th (or while supplies last).

The Snorlax + Mew on the bridge card will be available only at Tokyo DX, Mega Tokyo, Sky Tree, and the Tokyo Station Store and will be distributed between March 26th and April 8th (or while supplies last).

The final Snorlax + Mew design will only be available at Tokyo DX between April 9th and April 22nd (or while supplies last).

Limited Tokyo DX shopping bags will be distributed at all Pokemon Centers and Stores around Japan starting March 14th until they run out. To get a bag, all you need to do is buy something.

Tokyo DX Promo Cards

For every 5 packs of booster cards bought at a Pokemon Center or Store in Japan, customers will receive 1 Sakura Afro Pikachu promo card.

For every 5 packs of booster cards bought specifically at the Tokyo DX Store, customers will receive 1 Gentleman Pikachu promo card.

Both promo cards feature the Tokyo DX Logo.

Finally, and as always while supplies last, tiny foldable fan charms will be given to Tokyo DX customers for every 5,000 yen spent. So if you go and spend 10,000 yen, for example, you’ll get 2 tiny fans.

More information on merchandise will be announced in two weeks, so stay tuned!

Until next time~

Pokemon Center Report – Pokemon Yurutto

Pokemon Center Report – Pokemon Yurutto

Hello everyone!

This post will cover the recent Pokemon Yurutto release at Pokemon Centers in Japan.

Yurutto Plush

As with most promotions worth their salt, this promo had two main plush (Pikachu and Dedenne)

Yurutto Mascot

Along with four mascot sized plush (Pikachu, Dedenne, Bewear, and Rowlet)

There was also a larger Bewear cushion… which ended up being much bigger than we were expecting. Downright huge! And heavy! Downside: shipping price. Upside: perfect for hugs!

Yurutto Candy

The most interesting items from this promo (in my opinion) were the two candy related pieces!

Sakuma Drops are an iconic Japanese candy. They are flavored using real fruit juice and are manufactured by the Sakuma Candy Company, located in Ikebukuro, Tokyo (of all places!) These candies have been available since the Meiji era (early 1900s) and the tins are considered collectibles as the design changes often and they tend to do a lot of collaborations… like pictured here!

The other item is, believe it or not, a cookie tin… in the shape of a trash can! How original is that? (Pretty original!)

Another favorite for me: socks!! The Pokemon socks don’t always show up in every promotion, but when they do, you can bet I’m excited about it. This promotion featured 9 different designs, all of them adorable.

Yurutto Bags Pouches

The number of bags and pouches in this promotion were a little ridiculous, but hey, everyone has stuff they need to carry around with them, and everyone needs a bag or pouch to carry aforementioned stuff in.

There was one big tote bag (squishy faced electric rodents) and one smaller bag (Dedenne, Rowlet, and Pikachu hanging out) designed to carry lunch boxes.

The Pikachu tickling the other Pikachu with a puff ball is one flat pouch viewed from both sides.

Squishy face electric rodents and Pyukumuku punching Pikachu are both long pouches! As a side note, the Pyukumuku design was labeled as “Massage” – clearly the Pokemon Center has a different view on what a massage is compared to say… me. (I’d say poor Pikachu but he seems to be enjoying it)

Finally, there were two dice bags – the not Drifloon one features Ludicolo on the back.

Yurutto Stickers

There were five different sticker sheets, with different designs on each sheet.

Yurutto Misc

Rounding up the rest of the merch list…

Cellphone cases! The hard case on the left is designed for iPhone 7 while, as usual, the flip case is designed for all medium sized phones.

A set of cute notebooks and the infamous Croquis sketchbook which seems to have become a Pokemon Center staple recently.

Clearfiles! Because of course. I mean, this is the Pokemon Center we’re talking about.

Four card sleeve designs and two deck cases (each sleeve pack comes with 64 sleeves)

Hand towels in three designs (Pikachu, Dedenne, and Rowlet).

That basically wraps up our coverage of the Pokemon Yurutto promotion!

Did you get anything from this promotion? What was your favorite item?

I love silly promotions like this where we get non-stock illustrations and neat stuff (like trash can cookie tins!)

Until next time~

Pokemon Center Report – Kuttari Plush Promotion + Pokemon the Movie Merch

Pokemon Center Report – Kuttari Plush Promotion + Pokemon the Movie Merch

Hello everyone!

The Pokemon Center released one medium sized promotion and one smaller over this past weekend. Of the two, the Kuttari Plush series had a bit more “exciting” merch, as most of the Movie merch was school related stuff (notebooks, pencils, rulers, clearfiles, etc.)

This was the first time the Kuttari series dealt with items aside from plush, although there were two extra large versions of Piplup and Pikachu.

There were three sets of double-sided clear acrylic charms, with one side having awake versions and the other sleeping versions.

The same three sets of Pokemon were also featured on smaller hand towels.

Patterns featuring those Pokemon and several others were included on cute stackable cups

On mini tote-bags

And on this stacking cookie tin as well! I love and dislike this type of tin. On one hand, I love the ability to re-order the individual compartments. On the other hand, I usually don’t like 2 out of 3 of the candy they give you (I prefer cookies vs candy).

There was also a cute chopstick holder featuring Pikachu and Piplup. One set has one of each Pokemon, but if you have a friend you could always both buy a set and then swap one Pokemon out to create a full Piplup set or a full Pikachu set.

As mentioned, this weekend wasn’t just dominated by the Kuttari series; we had some preview summer Pokemon movie merch as well! The stars from this release were the Ash’s Pikachu related plush. The main plush was bigger than the usual plush released for promotions, and to add to the excitement, his little hat (which isn’t so little) can be removed and worn!

There was a much smaller mascot size plush version as well, although his hat is sewn on to his head.

There was also a soft drawstring pouch and a plush pass case, perfect for storing your Pikachu figures or carrying around your Pikachu train pass.

And that concludes this weekend’s release round-up.

Until next time!
