Wobbuffet Party + Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution

Wobbuffet Party + Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution

Before we delve into this week’s Pokemon Center Report, a quick announcement!

Mikitzune Zombiemiki Detective Pikachu Twitter Giveaway

I am currently hosting a giveaway over on Twitter for 1 of 3 plush toys coming out as part of the up-coming Pokemon Center exclusive Detective Pikachu promotion.

To enter, simply follow me (@zombiemiki) and RT this tweet. Entrees are welcome worldwide and the deadline to enter is 8 pm EDT on May 1st (Wednesday).

Golden Week officially started in Japan Monday April 29th, but actually started for most people from the 27th (Saturday). The Japanese Pokemon Center took advantage of this by planning a bunch of releases to coincide with this date so they would have new merchandise on sale throughout the Golden Week period.

Let’s Wobbuffet

Wobb Plush

Banking on the popularity of the Ditto Transform series, the Pokemon Center decided to try it’s luck with everyone being Wobbuffet.

A little weird in my opinion, and it definitely won’t be as popular as Ditto (sales were pretty mediocre) but hey… it’s cute? Maybe?

Not only were there 6 types of plush instead of the usual 5, but they were all much bigger than I anticipated.

Wobb Mascot

Other than that, the Wobbuffet Party promo was pretty standard for Pokemon Center fare, with matching mascot plush for each plush

Wobb Pouch

Plush pouches and bags of Eevee, Pikachu, and Ditto

Pokemon Center Let's Wobbuffet

The always popular Pokemon Center socks (and a bunch of other maybe cute items!)

Mewtwo Strikes Back

Pokemon Center Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution

Along with the Wobbuffet release, the Pokemon Center also came out with a couple items for the up-coming Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution movie.

Mewtwo Movie Plush

Most of the merchandise line-up was fairly standard and not too exciting but! There was also a new Mewtwo plush and a life-size Mew plush.

That wraps up this week’s exciting Pokemon Center Report!

Friday Pokemon Announcements – Putitto Pokemon Collection Vol 3 + Karel Čapek + Pokemon Center Online 2nd Anniversary

Friday Pokemon Announcements – Putitto Pokemon Collection Vol 3 + Karel Čapek + Pokemon Center Online 2nd Anniversary

Hello everyone!

This Friday’s announcements finally gave us more info on the Karel Čapek cross promotion that was hinted at in Pokemon Centers near the beginning of January, along with a surprise gacha release and information on the Pokemon Center Online 2nd anniversary celebrations.

Putitto Pokemon Collection returns with an Alolan region packed third volume.

Putitto Collection Vol 3

The gacha series will be sold exclusively through Pokemon Centers and Stores around Japan, with each play costing 300 yen.

The set will include: Litten, Popplio, Rowlet, Pyukumuku, Salandit, Bewear, and Alola Vulpix. There are no secret figures.

Believe it or not, it’s been about 2 years since the official Japanese Pokemon Center Online Store opened!

As with previous campaigns, there isn’t that many exciting things happening, and as might be obvious they’re all related to ordering from the store which only ships domestically. But with that said, there are a couple things happening.

Pika-Pika Happy Sale

From February 16th until February 23rd, the Pokemon Center Online will have select items up for sale at a 50% discount. Each set of items will be available for 24 hours only and then the next set of sale items will go up. The schedule is as follows:

February 16th: Pokemon Varsity promo + Poketabi Tokyo + Yokohama
February 17th: Lillie promo + Poketabi Tohoku + Sapporo
February 18th: Pikachu’s Closet + Tabi-Biyori Fujisan + Onsen
February 19th: Alola Protagonist Item Sets + 40 Inch Pikachu Plush + Poketabi Nagoya + Kyoto
February 20th: Umbreon & Espeon Cosmetic promo + Poketabi Osaka + Hiroshima
February 21st: Eevee merch + Tabi-Biyori Airport + Station
February 22nd: Pyukumuku merch + Extra Large Sleeping Pikachu Plush + Poketabi Fukuoka + Okinawa

This is not the entire list. New information on what exactly will be part of each day’s sale will be announced every day at 10 am Japan time.

Pokemon Center Online Logo Sticker

A limited 2nd anniversary logo sticker, featuring Pikachu and Pyukumuku, will be distributed 1 per order starting February 16th while supplies last.

To get a sticker, simply place an order for anything from the Japan Pokemon Center Online Store starting February 16th at 10 am Japan time.

Exclusive Item Lottery Sale

Are you regretting missing out on the 1:1 size Eeveelution plush? Now you don’t have to! The Pokemon Center Online Store will be holding a lottery for some of their previously released super exclusive merchandise, including the 1:1 Eeveelution plush, the solid gold 20th anniversary Pikachu TCG card, and a bunch of other items.

Don’t get too excited, though. This isn’t a lottery to win the item… this is a lottery to win the opportunity to buy the item.

If you’re still excited anyway, in order to enter, log in to your Pokemon Center Online account. Between February 16th and February 25th, an “Entry” button will be available to click from the user home page. You can only enter your name into the raffle pot once per item. Once your entry has been accepted, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

If you get selected to buy the item you entered for, you’ll receive an email sometime after February 27th. Items will be shipped out from March.

Additional Mini Game Prizes

Pokemon Center Online customers receive points with every online order, and these points can be used to play the slot mini game.

Limited edition prizes will be added to the prize pool between February 16th and February 25th. These prizes include previously distributed prizes (which I guess they ended up with a lot of extras of cough)

In order to win, you need your little fake slot machine to show three of a Pokemon.

The top “Magearna” prize is a rubber photo frame featuring Pikachu and Pyukumuku.

The next prize tier down, “Greninja”, is either a tote-bag or an A3 poster, with prizes distributed randomly.

The bottom prize tier, “Pikachu”, is an A4 clearfile. Winners will randomly receive 1 design from a possible 8.

Last and not least… Pokemon Meets Karel Čapek!

The Karel Čapek tea store is a semi famous small chain of stores in Tokyo and Kichijoji, owned by Yamada Utako, who is not only a creative director and tea taster but also famous for children’s picture books.

With that said, it should come as no surprise that the promotion features original artwork by Yamada and everything has a very distinctive tea theme.

Pokemon Center Report – Pokemon Little Tales

Little Tales is a collaboration between Pokemon and designer Shinzi Katoh and this is the third year in a row the Pokemon Center has brought us this always charming and adorable promotion. The theme for this year’s Little Tales line-up was “spring vacation” and this was reflected not only in the designs featured on the items but also on the items themselves.

IMG_2003

The runner up to the star of the show was the pair Pikachu plush. Continuing the design from last year where the girl and boy Pikachus shared one scarf, this year, the two Pikachu are holding hands.

IMG_2045

The mascot plush were equally adorable and featured Mime Jr, Ditto, and boy and girl Pikachu, with a very distinctive carousel theme.

IMG_2016

Close-ups of mascots!

IMG_2017

Not sure why they decided to use Ponyta twice but he is cute no matter which way he faces.

IMG_2037

Mime Jr looks especially happy. To be fair, if I had a Girafarig friend, I would be happy, too.

IMG_2013

The two Pikachu straps were sold as a set, so either a good or bad thing depending on how you view it. If you only wanted the male or female Pikachu, you were out of luck. If you had a friend and wanted to share, then this works out perfectly!

IMG_2012

The plush pass case only came in male Pikachu form, but who can resist his dapper little hat?

IMG_2030

There were three different bags with this promotion: a “bag in bag”, a smaller knapsack, and a foldable boston bag.

IMG_2031

The knapsack had a print of the two Pikachus stamped into the leather (?) while the bag in bag had both the two Pikachus plus the two Meowstics.

IMG_2032

Then there was the actual star of the show: the suitcase! Although not ideal for international travel, the suitcase is a nice size for going, let’s say, by train on a weekend trip somewhere domestic. The suitcases themselves, aside from the one or two on display, were kept near the registers, and from what I heard, most of the stores shipped them to your home still in their cardboard boxes because of the size. (You can also see an example of one of the boston bags folded out on top of the suitcase).

IMG_2034

The suitcase has the two Pikachus stamped into the front.

IMG_2026

Speaking of staying stylish, there were a couple clothing items sold in this promotion as well! The blue stole goes well with the creams of both the cardigan and free size shirt.

IMG_2028

Charm point of the shirt is the two Meowstics on their date.

IMG_2047

Charm point of the cardigan is the colorful buttons as well as the little Pikachu emblem.

IMG_2025

There was a bunch of other miscellaneous goodies as well, such as stationary sets, pencils, a clearfile set featuring designs from current and past Little Tales promotions

IMG_2023

A small assortment of stickers

IMG_2022

iPhone cases for 5/5s and 6/6s

IMG_2018

Hair scrunchies in two different designs

IMG_2019

Hand towels, towelkets (large blankets made out of a lighter towel fabric, ideal for late spring and summer), and hand creams

IMG_2020

Out of the two hand cream designs, this was my favorite!

IMG_2006

Last but certainly not least, the cookie tins! This might be the first time the Center has sold cookie tins as a set like this (or if not the first, it doesn’t happen very often).

IMG_2015

One tin has more of a travel theme, while the other has a carousel theme, but it can be agreed that both are adorable. I wasn’t planning on buying a cookie tin but after seeing them in person, I couldn’t resist.

Tomorrow I’m going to Wonder Fest for the first time ever, so wish me luck! Hopefully I can bring back pictures of up-coming merchandise to share.
