The 2018 Pokemon Center Valentine’s Day promotion went on sale January 13th and was full of tons of sweets and sweets related merchandise!
Sweet Plush
This year’s Valentine’s Day plush was a Pikachu Pair and adorable! They’re dressed as tiny Pikachu bakers, one boy and one girl.
The charm point is of course the tiny hearts on their butts.

There was also a heart shaped fuzzy cushion featuring artwork of the cute Pikachu Pair.

There was of course other non plush items that were equally as cute if not quite as soft.
Sweet Items
Along with towels (which unfortunately are never easy to get pictures of) there was a set of metal charms (so you can twin with your special someone), a cute bag charm that you can attach to non bag items, a unique little pouch designed to look like a biscuit, and a Pokemon Center drawstring pouch with the promotional artwork.
Sweet Sticker Roll
Special note 2: The sticker roll! I generally don’t buy stickers because I never use them, but I caved for these because the promotional artwork is so cute.
Sweet Item 2
This year’s promotion also included a couple kitchen and baking related items, which was really exciting.
There was a set of cookie cutters, silicone molds for making chocolates and candies, and adorable kitchen rags for cleaning up spills or just brightening up your kitchen area.
Also as part of the promotion was two types of gift bags (a simple one color brown paper bag and a colorful clear bag). There was also a small paper bag with handles. These are designed so you can make your cute chocolates and cookies and then give them to your special someone’s in super cute bags, making everything that much more precious.
Not forgetting the pink heart shaped mugs, perfect for drinking sweet hot chocolate out of.
Sweet Chocolate Memo
The stationary set (left) looks just similar enough to the box of chocolates (right)… to me at least… that I definitely got mixed up a couple times while shopping. It does clearly say on both boxes what they are, and now that I have the two side by side I can tell they’re not identical like I thought up until this point. It’s still confusing!

But speaking of chocolate boxes… Pikachu’s Sweet Treats included not one, not two, but three different snacks!
Sweet Chocolate Cookies
First up… vanilla strawberry chocolate cookies!
Originally I wasn’t planning on buying any but when it comes to cookies and chocolate, I am weak, and it didn’t take much to convince myself to get a bag.
I did not regret this decision – these cookies are amazing! It’s basically a vanilla cookie with really yummy strawberry chocolate on top. The artwork on the bag is of the Valentine’s Day Pair Pikachu from 2017.
Sweet Pikachu Chocolates
Number two… Pikachu chocolates!
These milk chocolates come wrapped in little Pikachus and are sold in a plastic Pikachu cup with tiny ears sticking out the top.
There was a girl version with a pink bow and a boy version with a blue bow.
Also of note are the little tails on the backs of the chocolate wrappers.
Sweet Box Chocolates
Last and certainly not least… the chocolate box!
This was my favorite item, aesthetically, out of all three sweets, although to be honest, the chocolate cookies were the tastiest.
Although the individually wrapped chocolates are adorable, all the chocolate is basically milk chocolate. But still cute!

That wraps up today’s Pokemon Center Report!
Until next time~

The month of semi boring August starts off with a hiccup.
Hoenn Badges
Can badges return to the Pokemon Center, with a Hoenn spin. These badges are separated into two batches, with a different set of people characters and their companion Pokemon in each batch. They will cost about 300 yen each, which makes me think they will be gacha prizes, but there is a small chance they’ll be blind packaged. Either way, you can’t choose which badge you get because that’s the Pokemon Center for you.
These badges will go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan starting August 19th (Saturday).

On the heels of last week’s Sapporo Fighter’s collaboration, we have another sports collaboration in the works, this time with the Yokohama DeNA Baystars. This promotion will go on sale starting August 11th (Friday) and will be sold exclusively through the Yokohama Pokemon Center, the Pokemon Center On-Line Store, and the official DeNA Baystars stores.

Pokemon Time was the big release this past Saturday, followed by the second to last Monthly Pikachu plush and the Pokemon Sketch mini promotion.

First up, the star of the hour, Pokemon Time! This is the 9th iteration of the very popular series. Like all the most recent Pokemon Times, this round gave us figure straps of the featured Pokemon, along with towels of the main Pokemon (Pikachu, Piplup, and Lucario) as well as the usual blind packaged candy tins and rubber straps.

The inclusion of socks is a first for the Pokemon Time series (and quite possibly a first for Pokemon Center promotions in general). “But Miki,” I hear people saying, “there have been socks offered in the past.” True, but not exactly in the same way as in this promotion. For some reason in Japan, a lot of sock stores offer a deal that allows the buyer to select any 3 of a prespecified type of sock for $10. Why 3 and why $10 and where did this originate from, I’m not sure, but you’re saving money and you get 3 pairs of cute socks!

Unsurprisingly, the socks were the most popular item from the promotion. How do I know? Pokemon Time came out on Saturday and by Monday, when this picture was taken, 3 of the designs were already sold out (Lucario, Pikachu, and Shinx).

Perhaps the most surprising items from the 9th wave were these giant sized plush cushions. All three types of plush are incredibly soft and very huggable and also large. Very, very large.

Aside from the figure straps, always my favorite type of merch from Pokemon Time, these stickers deserve a shout out due to sheer adorableness.

The February Monthly Pikachu plush also came out on Saturday. The weather in Tokyo is finally getting cold enough to require extra blankets, and for those with limited heating options, one of the best ways to stay warm in Winter in Japan is with a kotatsu, which is what Pikachu is doing!

The pattern on the blanket includes Torchic, Substitute Plush, and Dedenne, among others.

The Pokemon Sketch promotion, although maybe not as exciting as Pokemon Time, still offered some cute usable items, such as sketchbooks, dice bags, handkerchiefs, and small storage boxes. All items were available with Pikachu

Mudkip

Eevee

and Lucario!

There was also two miscellaneous releases. First up, this clearfile featuring artwork from this year’s Game Freak New Year’s card.

Pokemon is also jumping on the Valentine’s Day band wagon with this heart shaped chocolate bar and mini individually wrapped chocolates. Buy them for someone you love, like yourself!

On a parting note, two new posters went up in the Pokemon Center on Saturday. First up, the last Monthly Pikachu of this current series, Graduation Chu, is set to be released February 20th.

We also got this new poster for the Little Tales promotion, coming out February 6th. Hopefully we’ll get more information on the actual line-up on Friday.
