First up! I am currently running a giveaway over on my Twitter account. Follow the @zombiemiki account and RT this tweet to be entered to win 1 plush of your choice from the Pokemon Center’s Pokemon Fit Volume 2 release (see this post for a list of Pokemon included in this release). Giveaway ends Noon EST November 15th 2018 and entrees are welcome worldwide.
It’s been a bit since our last Pokemon Center Report, but we’re back so I hope you’re excited.
Both the Christmas promo and the Winter promo for 2018 was released at all Pokemon Centers & Stores around Japan on November 3rd (Saturday).
This year’s Christmas promotion featured three plush (Pikachu, Eevee, and Mew)
and three mascot plush (Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander)
My personal opinion from this year’s release: the plush were sort of a let down. Pokemon Center gets a minus for no Santa Chu and another minus for the slightly off plush pattern for Eevee.
On the other hand, Bulbasaur was super adorable, which makes up for everything else.
Other neat things from the Christmas release: the usual promo logo pin, and a pretty original item: an acrylic charm Christmas tree!
… and nothing else!!
If you’ve been following my Twitter account, you’ll know that the majority of items from the Pokemon Center’s 2018 Christmas release were canceled very last minute when it was discovered that there was a very small error on the main promotional artwork.
Basically it was almost midnight, all the Pokemon Centers were putting out their items for display and sale and the Amazon items were about to go on sale when everything was abruptly taken down and a blog post went up stating it was unclear whether these items would be available for sale at a later time, but “info coming soon”.
What was this catastrophic error? Dragonite’s back wing had green showing when it should be entirely orange.
So that was a thing that happened.
The yearly Winter themed Pokemon Center promotion also came out November 3rd.
The Winter Promo had an ami-gurumi theme, with ami-gurumi Pikachu and Snowman Pikachu plush and mascot plush versions.
This promo had a bunch of cute items, like the ami-gurumi style pouch
I was especially excited for the yearly sale of the Pokemon Center’s polvorone cookies!
These amazing cookies, also known as Mexican Wedding Cookies, are smaller sized round buttery cookies covered in powdered sugar. The Pokemon Center tends to sell these with their Winter promo, and this year is no exception. However, unlike past releases, this version is strawberry flavored.
Also of note were the selection of fuzzy inside clothes, perfect for keeping warm in winter!
The collection included a fuzzy hoodie, fuzzy shorts, and longer fuzzy socks.
Ending this post on a random release note: the second release from the semi new Pokemon Center Seasons with Pikachu & Eevee series.
There will be four plush sets in total. Summer came out during the summer, and now we have fall, with winter and spring to come in the near future.
Also of note: from Takara Tomy’s Chokkori-san plush series, the remaining Eeveelutions (excluding Eevee who already came out previously) were released near the end of October.
They sit nicely and can hold things in their tiny hands, so they’re also useful!
And that wraps up this week’s Pokemon Center Report.
Until next time!
