Considering Alolan Vulpix is so popular, it was honestly only a matter of time before a Vulpix promo happened.
Rokon’s (Vulpix) Crystal Season went on sale this past Saturday (October 21st) at all Japanese Pokemon Centers and Stores, as well as the on-line Japanese Pokemon Center store.
Vulpix Plush
The main plush were bigger and fluffier versions of the Pokemon Center exclusive Alolan Vulpix and Vulpix stuffies. There were also less fluffy mascot plush size versions.
Rant warning: I was excited when the original Alolan Vulpix plush was released because I love Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix…and then I got less excited when I saw them in person. I am not a fan of the pattern they used which places a huge V line on the front of the face and the nose above the line. The high nose and the short snout make the face not as cute as it could be (in my opinion!) and also makes it really easy to get messed up faces. I remember spending quite a lot of time shifting through plush at the Pokemon Center on release day trying my best to find the best faces with straight noses.
Since then, it seems the Pokemon Center is too lazy to find a better pattern for Alolan Vulpix plush because every single Alolan Vulpix plush they release has this pattern. The Christmas Vulpix uses the pattern (although he’s standing) and these plush are different in that they’re “fuzzy” but otherwise are the same.
As someone who loves Vulpix and is a collector but is also super picky, I just can’t get excited about these plush.
With that said, the mascot plush are adorable! The faces are just the right amount of roundness, the noses are below or on the seam, they’re both smiling, and the poses are adorable.
Along with the plush, there was also a cushion featuring mini Vulpix plushies (which have the same weird problem of placing the noses above the seam so they could be cuter but it’s still soft at least)
Vulpix Season 1
Half the items of the promo came in pairs, with an Alolan Vulpix version and a Kanto Vulpix version.
Some of these cute items include plush scrunchies with little ears, stained glass style keychain charms, and pens!
Vulpix Season 2
Half the items were more fashion related, including a mini tote bag, various pouches, wallets, and pass cases, and an adorable flip-phone case featuring Alolan Vulpix on one side and Kanto Vulpix on the other.
Vulpix Season 3
Along with the pens, the promo also had a couple stationary related items, including two versions of a notebook (one with the two Vulpix and one with a print design), the ever present A4 size clearfile, PET stickers, and decoration tape that also included adorable memo note paper.
The Vulpix Crystal Season promo also featured an adorable cookie tin. The cookies are actually white and milk chocolate coated crispy rice puffs that are super delicious! They sold them last year, also for the Winter companion promo (Snow Season) which I think is kind of cute.
That wraps up today’s Pokemon Center Report!
Next up, Ditto Invasion~
Hi there. An odd question, but do you think the larger Vulpix plushies will still be in stock in May this year? I’m debating either buying them before I leave online or if I could just wait? I know Arcanine went out of stock before I left last time and I am hoping they over stocked these guys so I can grab them <3
The short answer is miracles happen but chances are slim. If you really want it, buy it now.
