Pokemon Banpresto Claw Machine Prizes
One of a couple catch up posts from when I was in Japan!
Some new plush from the popular “Kororin Friends” Banpresto prize plush series were released near the end of May.
One of these releases was a larger size Pikachu plush.
As with everything related to the Pokemon franchise, there can never be too many Pikachu plush.
Three smaller plush (Pikachu, Raichu, and Pichu) from the same Kororin Friends series also came out at the same time.
I tend to have difficulty catching the smaller sized Kororin Friends plush because of their round shape. How easy or difficult they are to catch is completely dependent on how nice the staff at the game centers are. For the mountain set-up, they can be super easy to catch if placed in the right spot of the mountain or incredibly difficult if at the wrong spot. For the other set-up photoed here, from Round 1, this can either be an easy 1-3 play win if the claw is strong or a waste of money if the claw is too weak to do anything.
I won the majority of my Kororin plush from this type of set-up, with the grabby claw. This is yet another instance of “this will either go well or horribly wrong” depending on how strong the claw is. If it doesn’t lift at all, you’re probably better off saving your money. If it’s strong enough to lift the plush a little, you can move it forward (or to the side depending on where the plush is in the machine) and win it in a few tries or if you’re really lucky, the claw will lift the plush up entirely and you’ll win instantly.
As an aside, the Raichu is super cute! I won one for myself because I couldn’t resist. You can see him here with my other Raichus (and Alolan Raichus) in the top right corner of the shelf.
Until next time~
This blog post will cover all the Banpresto prize plush announced for June.
The summer Pokemon movie is just around the corner, and the movie related merchandise is starting to pick up steam. We should continue to see movie merch until the end of summer.
First up, we have the first in a series of Pikachu plush wearing different Ash hats, which is the big gimmick for the summer movie.
Original hat Pikachu and Hoenn Pikachu will start appearing in game centers from June 22nd (Thursday).
Sinnoh and Unova hat Pikachu will start appearing in game centers from June 27th (Tuesday).
All of the Pikachu plush measure roughly 24 cm tall.
3 bath towels will also start appearing in game centers from June 27th (Tuesday).
Each towel measures roughly 60 cm by 120 cm and the three designs are Ash’s Pikachu, Lots of Pikachu, and Ho-oh.
June will also give us two releases from the Pokemon Sun & Moon extra large plush line-up.
The Pokeball and Ultra Ball plush, both measuring roughly 35 cm tall, will start appearing in game centers from June 27th (Tuesday).
Extra large Psyduck, measuring in at about 37 cm tall, will also start appearing in game centers from June 27th (Tuesday).
The Pokemon Tea Party series continues into June with two sets of plush.
Three smaller plush will start appearing in game centers from June 8th (Thursday).
The three designs are Pikachu Ice Cream Sandwich, Shaved Ice Pikachu, and Crepe Pikachu, with each plush measuring roughly 15 cm tall.
The larger Pikachu plush, measuring at around 24 cm, will also start appearing in game centers from June 8th (Thursday).
Last and certainly not least, we have some new Kororin Friends and Korotto Manmaru plush to look forward to!
Bringing Korotto Manmaru and the summer movie together, Pikachu, Lucario, Piplup, and Luxray will start appearing in game centers from June 27th (Tuesday).
Each plush measures roughly 12 cm tall.
From the Kororin Friends series, we have a large Bulbasaur plush (measuring roughly 26 cm long) that will start appearing in game centers from June 13th (Tuesday).
The smaller sized Treecko, Torchic, and Turtwig plush will also come out June 13th (Tuesday), with each plush measuring about 12 cm.
That wraps up the new plush for June!
I have a feeling we’ll be seeing at least one new Lycanroc plush for July or August.
Until next time~
And we’re back, this time with new UFO Catcher Adventures!
Three new Pokemon plush were released today into game centers around Japan.
Plush number one: a new Pikachu plush, called “Ash’s Pikachu” because he is wearing Ash’s Alolan region hat. Because we can never have too many Pikachu plush!
These plush are the usual “big” size of 25 cm or a little under 10 inches. They’re pretty cute, but they’re also weirdly flat? But I’m also semi picky about plush, so it bothers me when plush aren’t proportionately round.
The pose is pretty cute, though, and slightly reminiscent of Gangnam Style (although they were probably going more for looking cool but once seen cannot unsee).
Edit: I have been informed this is Pikachu’s Z-Move pose. In my defense, I got sidetracked by Festival Plaza and that’s all I do now.
The other two plush released today are part of the I Love Eevee series: Leafeon and Glaceon!
Like the other releases in the same series, both Leafeon and Glaceon are incredibly soft. They both have the weird wiring in the ears to help make the ears stand up. They seem a little smaller than the previously released Eeveelutions, but this might be due to the fact their tails aren’t quite as big. And as usual, Leafeon’s various leafy extra bits are felt pieces that are either sewn in to the plush body or attached with glue (the leaf on his forehead).
Overall, these two buddies fit in well with their Eeveelution brethren, so lovers of the series (and Eevee and Leafeon and Glaceon) should rejoice!
Bonus picture: my haul for today! This includes plush I won for other people as well as some figures for me, Nyanko Sensei for my girlfriend, and I couldn’t resist a chance to win some Umaibo. I picked up some great flavors – tonkatsu sauce, salami, and teriyaki burger, along with the Umaibo staples (salad and corn pottage).
Today’s UFO catcher adventures went pretty well, which is nice since I haven’t had a day go pretty well in a while! The majority of machines I played at where medium to easy difficulty, this in turn made it more fun to go around and win stuff. I managed to attract a small crowd in Akihabara which is always amusing.
Eeveelutions come out on Saturday and Pokemon news comes out tomorrow. Stay tuned for more excitement!
Until next time~
