A new addition to the popular Pokemon Little Tales promotion came out Saturday, April 8th, and everything was as adorable as expected!
I’m a personal fan of this series as I love the art, created by Shinzi Katoh, who has a very unique style. If you’re a fan like me, you can check out his website here.
Every year there is a new set of plush and mascot plush. The plush this year are a boy and girl Pikachu pair going berry picking.
While the mascot plush are a boy and girl Pikachu pair holding little balloons, going to a little party.
This year’s release also included a third plush: a bigger sleeping Pikachu cushion!
There was a lot of stationary related items in this release. Along with a cute stationary set, there were also two greeting cards (with envelopes), four different designs of decoration (washi) tape, a sticker roll featuring 100 stickers divided into 5 different designs, and two sizes of notebooks.
What good are notebooks without pencils to write with? There were two different types of pencils available (KuroToga and Delguard), each with a different illustration theme.
The Little Tales series tend to feature home goods that aren’t generally seen in other Pokemon Center promotions, and this release was no exception. Along with a cute wooden fork and spoon set, three was also a pasta bowl and a set of glass tupperware, as well as a more traditional Center item: a mug with one of the main promotion illustrations (shown in the background of this photo).
The home goods continued with this adorable photo frame and three types of towels. There were two smaller sized towels (hand and face) that were both this purple pattern with the sleeping Pikachus, plus a small bath towel with the berry picking Pikachu artwork.
Another staple of the Little Tales series: fashion merchandise! There was a shoulder bag, pouch, wallet, pass case, and card case all with this same pink background illustration. They’re cute and simple designs that can easily be used in every day life while not being necessarily over the top but also still being cute and Pokemon. The charm point for me is the little Whismur in the window.
More fashion goods! There was an earring set, with one pair of dangling charms and one pair of studs, as well as two different sets of metal charms because everyone loves metal charms.
That concludes today’s Pokemon Center Report! What did you think of this year’s Little Tales promotion?
If there was anything that piqued your interested, you can still place an order via Japan Stuffs to get the items you desire 🙂

Tonight’s update includes a lot of info and photos, so let’s get started beginning with the most recent TCG news.
The next booster pack set was announced, with a release date of April 21st (Friday). Called “Beyond New Challenges”, is the second holo exclusive Sun & Moon set (SM2+) and the cards in this set are designed to be used alongside “Awaiting Islands” and “Alola Moonlight” to create stronger decks.
Each booster pack will cost 248 yen after tax and includes 5 random holo cards.
A special card set will go on sale April 21st as well. This set features a promo Alolan Vulpix card that you can only get via this set along with 2 “Beyond New Challenges” booster packs. This set will cost 550 yen after tax.
A two player 30 card deck battle set will also go on sale April 21st. As this set is designed for two people to be able to battle each other right out of the box, there is 2 sets of 30 card decks as opposed to the usual 1 set, and features 1 Pikachu GX card and 1 Mimikyu GX card. The set also includes:

2 GX markers
1 Pokemon coin
1 instruction manual
1 players guide
This special two player set will cost 1,782 yen after tax.
As with most (if not all?) booster pack releases, there will be a special card campaign starting April 21st. Customers who buy 20 packs of “Beyond New Challenges” or 1 box will receive 1 Olivia promo card, which you can only get from this campaign.
The ever popular Kuttari Plush series is returning with a brand new array of non-plush (and some plush) items, including a cookie tin, towels, bags, and charms. This mini promotion will go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and stores in Japan on April 15th (Saturday).
The fourth installment of Pokemon Tales was also announced, with a release date of April 8th (Saturday). The theme for this iteration is forest living, focusing on Pikachu and their friends everyday forest lives, including little forest parties and picnics. Along with Pikachu, some of the Pokemon included in the item illustrations are: Pichu, Tympole, Bonsly, Hoppip, Skiploom, Clefairy, and a very tiny, hidden Minccino!
The Ditto Transform promotion came out today (March 25th) in Japan, and I already have photos so be on the lookout for the next Pokemon Center Report coming soon!
Lots of announcements from today, so hold on to your butts and get ready for Pokemon merchandise!
The Alolan hype train continues with more Sun & Moon Pokemon Center exclusive plush! Both Fomantis and Sandshrew will cost 1,620 yen after tax, while Ninetails will cost 2,160 yen.
Speaking of hype, get ready for a flood of Vulpix merchandise, starting with these adorable poncho Pikachus! This mini sized promotion is actually a part 2 to the Sapporo Center re-opening extravaganza but will focus exclusively on Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix.
Basically, this promotion is so adorable I can’t handle it, and also not something I was expecting! The promotion will go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores across Japan starting February 1st, 2017.

I’ve been looking forward to the Pokemon Chiku-Chiku Sewing promotion since it was announced, and I was not let down!
The Sewing promotion was created based on a homey sort of hand-stitched mom and pop toy store feel, and all the items in the promotion reflect this, right down to the actual plush. They even sold mini sewing kits with the Pokemon Chiku-Chiku Sewing logo on them!
The most popular items were, of course, the plush. We got this dapper Pikachu wearing a top hat as both a normal size plush
And in a slightly smaller mascot size.
Vulpix was the second normal size plush and as of this post is currently sold out at the Mega-Tokyo Pokemon Center (although my guess is they will restock at least once).
There was also three more mascot sized plush: Hoppip
And Jumpluff! All three have a very unique semi-stitched together look, which in my opinion is the best part of this entire promotion. Little Jumpluff even looks like he’s wearing little pants!
Tartan was another big part of this promotion, much easier to see in the other non-plush items, including the flip phone cases, cups and plates
And, of course, the cookie tins! If you are going to get one item from this promo, aside from the plush, my vote would be the cookie tins. The tins are a perfect size, feature all the main artwork, and the cookies are delicious.
Along with the Sewing promotion, the Center also gave us a couple items for New Years 2016.
With the main plush being Pikachu shaped like a kagami mochi. Although I think Dedenne was better suited for this shape, Pikachu still came out pretty cute.
Another especially cute New Years item was this set of metal charms, featuring the Mochi Chu as well as a hanetsuki paddle charm with Aipom, as 2016 is the year of the monkey.
Out of both the Sewing and New Years promotions, I was especially looking forward to the Vulpix plush. A part of me was worried the plush would look not as cute in person compared to the stock photos, but my worries turned out to be unnecessary in the end because Vulpix turned out perfectly. He is the perfect size; neither too big nor too small. He is perfectly cuddly, perfectly adorable, and perfectly perfect – the perfect little fire fox!
Next weekend will give us December’s Monthly Pikachu as well as the announcement for January’s Chu, and maybe we’ll get some exciting news on Friday regarding future promotions! We should learn soon what the actual New Years promotion will be. Last year we got a set of sleeping plush of the XY starter Pokemon. Any ideas for what we might see for New Years 2016?
