Friday Pokemon Announcements – Pokemon Halloween Time + Ruby & Sapphire PokeCen Plush

Hello everyone!

Last night, we got some majorly exciting news…

This year’s main Halloween promotion was announced!

Halloween comes super early this year and with almost no warning. The 2017 Pokemon Halloween promotion will drop at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan starting September 2nd (Saturday), which is technically…next week! (Did August even happen?)

There is a bunch of super cute merch this year and I’m really excited!! Halloween is my favorite time of the year and I’ve felt like the Pokemon Center has semi dropped the ball with the past several promotions. They made up for it this time!

(Before we delve into the excitement that is Pokemon Halloween 2017, a quick reminder: Don’t live in Japan? No problem! All of the Halloween items and more can be ordered through Japan Stuffs!)

(Thanks to the Daisuki Club updating really quickly with new information, we actually have photos of all the merch from this promo!)

Squishy Mascots (Pikachu | Mimikyu) – 1,080 yen
Die-Cut Memo Set – 734 yen
PET Stickers – 540 yen
A4 3-Pocket Clearfile – 410 yen

Dice Bag – 648 yen
Pouch (Pikachu on one side, Mimikyu on the other) – 1,944 yen
Hand Towel – 756 yen

Of course there will be blind packaged rubber charms! This set features 9 designs with no secrets, and as always, each charm will cost 540 yen after tax.

As part of the Pokemon Center Halloween festivities that will start with Pokemon Halloween Time and run through October, starting September 22nd (Friday) customers at all Pokemon Center and Store locations will get 1 of 3 random clear art cards for every 2,500 yen spent. These cards are given out on a first come first serve basis and once they’re gone there’s no more, so if you’re in Japan around that time, make sure to stop by September 22nd and spend your cash!

In keeping tradition with the past few years, there will be a secondary Halloween/Gothic themed promotion that will go on sale separately from the main Halloween promotion. “Mysterious Encounters” is set to drop in Japan September 22nd (Friday) and we will get more information on the merch line-up September 8th (Friday), so stay tuned!

Moving on from Halloween… a batch of Ruby and Sapphire themed Pokemon Center exclusive plush will go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores September 2nd (Saturday).

The line-up includes:

(1,296 yen)
Treecko
Torchic
Mudkip
Sableye
Plusle
Minun
Gulpin
Banette

(2,160 yen)
Altaria

(2,700 yen)
Rayquaza

Honestly speaking, this batch is maybe a little disappointing just because all of these Pokemon have plush, and in some cases a lot of plush that look very similar if not basically identical to these ones. I know it’s hard to believe, Pokemon Center, and you might want to sit down for this but there are actually other Gen 3 Pokemon besides the ones you have here, and I’m sure lots of fans would have loved those plush. I hate being that person who is all, “give another Pokemon a chance” but … give another Pokemon a chance?!

That wraps up Friday’s Pokemon Announcements!

Until next time~

Pokemon Center Report – Japanese Style Promotion

Pokemon Center Report – Japanese Style Promotion

This past weekend gave us the return of the Japanese Style Pokemon promotion, this time featuring three different designs: a cute candy style, Rowlets, and a traditional Japanese papercut style featuring Mt Silver. Along with the main line-up, we also got four plush and four mascot plush!

First up, the plush! These plush are designed to look like they’re hand-made of crepe-like material.

Both the plush and mascot plush feature Pikachu, Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio.

The Japanese Style promotion had a bunch of non-traditional Pokemon Center items, along with some traditional items with a twist.

These coin pouches are not necessarily standard but have been sold before, however, I thought the Rowlet design was pretty cute and original.

Here are some examples of the candy design on some items (bag chain, earrings, and a cute memo-pad). These hard candies are standard fare for traditional Japanese sweets. Made primarily of sugar, the circular flat candies, known as Kintaro-Ame, originally hail from the Edo period and are usually found in most Japanese sweet stores.

The blind packaged charms feature these candy charms mixed with konpeito, another traditional Japanese candy. (Note: these aren’t really sweets! They just look like them!)

Included in this promotion were a bunch of Rowlet themed silverware and kitchen stuff. Most of the items are featured in the banner for this post, but also included were cute and simple chopsticks and chopstick holders.

In keeping with the traditional Japanese theme, the promotion sold jinbei (basically a pajama set) and traditional Japanese pajama shorts (not pictured).

More items! Of course no promotion is complete without some pouches, and here you can see an example of a Mt Silver pouch

Surprisingly, the Pokemon Center decided not to go with konpeito or Kintaro-Ame for their candy tin; instead, they went with soy sauce flavored rice crackers in two different tins (Rowlet and Mt Silver).

That concludes this report of the 2017 Pokemon Japanese Style promotion!

What was your favorite item from the release?

Until next time~

Friday Pokemon Announcements – Pokemon Dessert Plate + Japanese Style

Friday Pokemon Announcements – Pokemon Dessert Plate + Japanese Style

Hello everyone!

The Pokemon Center gave us two cute promotion announcements on Friday, and I already can’t wait until the release!

First up, the promotion I’m most excited for: Pokemon Dessert Plate!

This promotion, featuring a bunch of sweets themed merch, will go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan starting August 5th (Saturday).

There are two items that were most intriguing to me: 8 mascot plush, blind packaged figures, and what appears to be, based on description alone, a teapot/teacup set …none of which had pictures because the Pokemon Center is currently being really annoying with their news. Why not give us pictures of the stuff we want the most? Also, I’m not sure if it’s a temporary thing and someone just forgot or if it’s the new trend but none of the pictures this time had labels, which is usually fine, but sometimes what the item is can be ambiguous at best and the labels were helpful. So I dunno… thanks, Pokemon Center??

Thanks to the lovely Jen from Japan Stuffs, I can include photos of the posters the Pokemon Center put up on Saturday for both the Dessert Plate and Japanese Style promos, which include labels for things as well as pictures for the items everyone is excited about: the plush, the mascot plush, and the figures! The only thing we’re missing is the tea for one set and the mysterious “Charm Collection” from the Japanese promotion. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

As always, thanks for reading and until next time~

Pokemon Center Report – Tohoku Center Promotion + Pokemon With You + Pikachu in the Forest

Pokemon Center Report – Tohoku Center Promotion + Pokemon With You + Pikachu in the Forest

The last day of June and the first day of July both had Pokemon Center releases!

I’ve been looking forward to the Tohoku Center re-opening promotion since the teaser posters started going up back in April. The Tohoku Center holds a special place in my heart and will always be my favorite Center location. Why? One big reason is Victini is one of the Center’s logo Pokemon and I love Victini. One of my favorite Victini plush is a special 1:1 plush that was sold exclusively through the Tohoku Center. I was really hoping this release would have some cute Victini plush, and I wasn’t disappointed!

All of the Pokemon Centers got new poncho Pikachu plush, featuring Rowlet and Victini ponchos in normal and mascot plush sizes.

The Tohoku Center also sold Jirachi poncho plush, but as those were exclusive to Tohoku, I unfortunately don’t have photos to share of them (so you’ll have to imagine).

Along with the usual merch (metal charms and pins), we also got these adorable kokeshi style plush for Pikachu, Jirachi, and Victini.

Along with the cute Tohoku promotional items, we also got a renewal to the Pokemon with You line of merch with the return of can badges! I’m so in love with the new illustrations, not only because they’re no longer stock images but also because the new art is just too cute for words. Jen from Japan Stuffs helped me get some and I will definitely share pictures as soon as I have them in hand!

I really hope they continue the new can badges in the near future because I want more Pokemon drawn in this style.

Two new Pokemon Center plush were released on the 30th of June: Marshadow and Jirachi.

Last but not least, a cute Pikachu themed promotion, called “Pikachu in the Forest” was released across Japan July 1st. The merch line-up included some of the usual suspects, such as different sizes of pouch, but also a bunch of kitchen and home goods, like aprons, cooking utensils, a teapot, and a variety of bowls and plates among other items.

That wraps up this week’s Pokemon Center releases!

Until next time~
