I made it through the weekend, didn’t get trapped in the Atlanta airport, and it’s another Pokemon Friday with a new batch of up-coming merchandise announcements.
Tonight’s merch related stuff was fairly quiet but we have two up-coming treats to look forward to.
First up, the Putitto x Pokemon gacha series continues with Vol 2: This Time The Spoops Are Real. This set will go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan starting September 30th (Saturday), with the usual price of 300 yen per play.
The set will have 7 figures in total with no secrets. The 7 Pokemon are Haunter, Mimikyu, Gourgeist, Litwick, Drifloon, Banette, and Sableye.
Second but not any less exciting… a new batch of Pokemon With You charity badges featuring the new super adorable artwork! These new badges will also go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan starting September 30th (Saturday). Each badge will cost 270 yen after tax and 100% of proceeds will go towards supporting children affected by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake.
This batch will include Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Mew, Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Snorlax, Lapras, Dragonite, and Raichu.
Which one is your favorite? There are so many cute ones, it’s hard for me to pick, but that Mew with the heart tail is calling to me, along with Eevee!
Last but not least, these four 2018 schedule books are set to hit the shelves tomorrow (Saturday, September 16th) Japan time.
The two Pikachu schedule books are made of leather and cost 2,160 yen each after tax.
The Eeveelution and Ditto Transform schedule books are made of not leather material and the price reflects this with each book costing 1,080 yen after tax.
(You can order these books and more over at Japan Stuffs, including the Pokemon Yurutto goods that come out tomorrow!)
I have a small backlog of Pokemon Center Reports to put up, hopefully soon, so stay tuned!
This past Friday (August 18th), there were no merchandise announcements, and the only release for Saturday (August 19th) was the blind-packaged Hoenn region can badges.
But! This year’s Dot Sprite promotion was released last Wednesday (August 16th), along with a couple random items.
There were no plush or cushions with this year’s release, but there were hand towels! Pictured here are two of the three designs (the third was dot sprite style pokeballs).
It’s not a Pokemon Center promotion without clearfiles, and this release featured three designs, each with multiple pockets!
There were two memo pads in cute boxes (one design with just Pikachu and one with the main group illustration) and an unboxed pad of sticky notes.
If notebooks are more your style, there were two Pokeball die-cut notebooks.
One of the cutest items from the merch list was this set of three clear pouches. Use them together or separately (or keep them minty fresh and safe in your collection!)
Coinciding with the opening of the very limited Isetan x Pokemon store, available exclusively at the main Shinjuku Isetan building (which includes a super cute cafe with Pokemon themed food and drink), an Isetan themed Pikachu plush was also released at Pokemon Centers on the 16th.
Last but not least, this rather unique “multi-ring” for smartphones was released recently as well. Available in three designs (Alola Vulpix, Snorlax, and Eeveelution), you can attach this ring to the back of your phone and use it to…I’m not exactly sure. Hold it better? Attach it to things? Clip it to a string and swing it around your head like a deadly Pokemon themed projectile? Whatever your heart desires I guess!
The usual Friday Pokemon Announcements actually came out on Thursday as Friday (August 11th) was a public holiday in Japan (Mountain Day, for the curious cats out there).
I so naively thought August would be slow and boring merchandise wise. So of course the Pokemon Center pulled a “hold my beer” on me by giving us the return of the Eeveelutions with Eevee Collection: The Return of The End (I’m joking – this release shouldn’t be so bloodthirsty), set to go on sale at all Pokemon Centers and Stores in Japan starting August 26th (Saturday).
The main items from this release is once again the plush; this time we get larger cushion type plushies, all in adorable sleeping poses.
Each plush will cost 4,104 yen after tax, and look incredibly soft so perfect cuddle buddies.
The following Eeveelution themed items will also go on sale alongside the plush:
(Not Pictured) A4 Clearfiles (Eevee / Flareon / Jolteon / Vaporeon / Espeon / Umbreon / Leafeon / Glaceon / Sylveon) – 260 yen each
Campus Notebook Set of 5 Books (A / B) – 800 yen each
Campus Notebook Set of 3 Mini Books ( A / B / C) – 486 yen each
Bic Ballpoint Pens (Eevee / Flareon / Jolteon / Vaporeon / Espeon / Umbreon / Leafeon / Glaceon / Sylveon) – 324 yen each
Hand Towel – 1,404 yen
Mini Plates (Eevee / Flareon / Jolteon / Vaporeon / Espeon / Umbreon / Leafeon / Glaceon / Sylveon) – 756 yen each
And yes, you read all of that correctly: there are no blind packaged items in this release. And the peasants rejoiced!
It only took forever but the Pokemon Center is finally cashing in on plush they can dress-up, specifically Pikachu, because of course.
For this August 26th (Saturday) release, we’ll get the base naked Pikachu plush and two clothing sets. Clothing and Pikachu plush are of course sold separately.
The Pikachu plush will cost 3,780 yen after tax.
The Pajama Set of clothes will cost 3,456 after tax, and the Artist/Autumn Set of clothes will cost 4,104 yen after tax.
Expect more clothes in the future!
Last and certainly not least, a collaboration between Pokemon and the high-class Isetan department store was announced.
There is going to be a special Pokemon Store set-up in the main Shinjuku Isetan location from August 16th (Wednesday) until August 21st (Monday). (See this website for more information – note: Japanese only) There will be a special cafe with Pokemon themed foods and a variety of items on sale that will only be available through Isetan, including bags and pouches, jewelry and accessories, and stationary, among other items.
To celebrate, two items will also go on sale through Pokemon Centers and the On-Line Pokemon Center store (in this case, Pokemon Stores will not receive these items).
A Pikachu plush carrying a paper Isetan shopping bag and wearing a dot sprite scarf featuring original Pokemon artwork that includes an Isetan department store, will go on sale at all Pokemon Centers, the On-Line Center, the Isetan Pokemon store, and the Isetan on-line store from August 16th (Wednesday). Each plush will cost 2,160 yen after tax.
An adult sized version of the Isetan x Pokemon dot sprite scarf will be available for pre-order starting August 16th (Wednesday) from the On-Line Pokemon Center Store, the Isetan Pokemon store, and the Isetan on-line store, with a release date set for end of August. The scarves will cost 21,600 yen each after tax.
That wraps up the main Pokemon Center merchandise news from Thursday!
Are you excited for more Eevees? Which plush are you going to get? (All of them?!)
